she was a stereo type
but she was never on the radio
she was rock n roll at night
but she had to play it real low
with her old friend named jack
together on streets of old skidrow
she led jack on the attack
they always put on quite a show
they'd cut em' straight to the bone
then into little pieces
and they always took em' all home
MAN...THIS IS UNUSAL AND CRUEL
sun burns the desert sand
in some far off foreign land
stands a soldier american man
in a uniform now he's in command
he's there to make it alright
make it better overnite
but it just ain’t goin’ that way
no matter what his majesty say
now their boots are sinking deeper in the sand
cuz the one’s in charge never never had a plan
AND THATS UNUSAL AND CRUEL
in the middle of the school yard
A school boy caught off guard
by a bully kid that comes along
sez your lunch money or a scar
the boy fights back with all his might
but the school boy loses this fight
boy can’t believe the thieving
swears someday he’ll get even
years later the school boy joins the blood
the bully boy becomes a judge
AND THATS UNUSAL AND CRUEL
my father he was a company man
worked 30 years building this land
but now the company don't give a damn
there’re just glad he made em’ rich
the bottom line is all they understand
they don’t care about him or his fellow working man
he worked his fingers to the bone
and he sits their all alone
AND THATS UNUSAL AND CRUEL

Hank was like a tank Sometimes from the bozze he drank hank stank Hank counldn’t
stand up straight But never turned his work in late Hank was perfect no mistake
Hank knew how to do He was a poet and artist and a drunken fool With his words
he’d make you laugh and cry Just to look at him man he was a ugly guy Just to
look him he was beautiful inside Hank thanks With his words he could make laugh
With his words he could make you cry With his words he could make you wonder why
Some called him hank I call him bu-kow-ski

Well the delta sun was hot day as I stumbled into a bookstore Paging thur a dusty
atlas but I had to place to look for So I brought my bag of bones walking
sideways on to the sidewalk And a man made of entirely of sliver followed me for
half of block the drinks were cold like drinks with ice but there was no ice in
site come to think I had no site then again I couldn’t think I played a game of
pool with the girl in stone washed jean I ask her how she washed them in stone
and how the hell she keeps them clean she had a calico complexion and fiery
orange hell cat hair when asked if I was able to speak I could have said
something to keep her there My memory is hazes just like those hot summer days in
the delta the name it rings a bell in the face I remember so well well the delta
moon was blue that nite as a echos of a choir resonated midnite mass so I examine
my attire I’ve never been a tier of ties cuz I always way to tired Plus I’d never
be hired were one was required I meet a lonely girl sitting beside the river And
despite the chilly river breeze she didn’t shake or shiver I took her by the hand
and asked her girl do you need a friend Her hands were cold and her eyes were
rolled back inside her head So inside of me I laid down beside her And I took her
to a place were no one could ever find her And now I’ll never be alone In the
Mississippi delta I’ll never be alone Well the name it rings a bell And the face
I remember so well…
